Nils Bergeson is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was born in Oceanside, California, and spent the majority of his childhood in Millville, Utah. As of 2011, he has lived in four different countries and lived in five different states.
Nils and his wife, Emily, currently have a daughter, Jane.
Nils works for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a development specialist and U.S. Foreign Service Officer. Currently, he and his family are stationed in Bogota, Colombia.
Nils previously served as a missionary in the Russia Novosibirsk Mission.
Nils holds a B.A. degree in International Studies from Utah State University. He also holds a Master's of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He studied Russian at St. Petersburg State University, and has completed previous coursework at Westminster College (Salt Lake City, Utah).
Nils and Emily previously served as volunteers in the U.S. Peace Corps, and were stationed in Braila, Romania.
Nils is an avid world traveler, and has (as of April 2011) visited 40 countries. He speaks Russian, Spanish, and Romanian. He is conversant in German and American Sign Language (ASL).
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nils has served as a Sunday School President, Branch Clerk, Branch Mission Leader, and Sunday School teacher on multiple occasions. He currently serves as the Young Men's President in his ward.
Ever since his conversion to Mormonism in 1999, Nils has found joy in studying, analyzing, and discussing the doctrines and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He began writing "Mormon Thinking" in 2008 for this purpose.
